Back in February 2008, when I was changing the sheets on my bed and in the middle of doing laundry, I was thinking about something my sister told me as I ironed my pillow cases. She was working in the bridal registry department of a major department store, and they'd had a presentation with a leading towel manufacturer who told them never to use fabric softener or dryer sheets on towels. Turns out, the silicone in the fabric softener coats the individual terry fibers, ultimately making the towels less absorbent. I had no idea! And I was thinking of all my friends who also probably didn't know. So I emailed them all, and suddenly a weekly email newsletter was born.
A reader contest later, we had a name: VestaVamps. A website soon followed. VestaVamps is now an online community, all with reader-generated content. So let us know what you have to say, whether it's sharing a new favorite recipe, cleaning tip, or pics from a recent party!
