Snickerdoodles

“fun to say . . . to sniff . . . to eat!”
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, soft
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into mixture.
Chill dough. In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp of sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon. Set aside. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, and rolls balls in sugar/cinnamon mixture coating entirely. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2” apart. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned, but still soft. Initially cookies will puff up and then flatten out with crinkled tops.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies. To halve recipe, use 1 1/4 cup flour plus 2 tbsp.
