Dad's Green Beans
Ingredients:
- Green beans, ends snapped off
- 2-3 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- Salt
Directions:
Steam green beans for a few minutes, until beans are softened but still crisp and bright green.
While steaming, place butter in a small frying pan over medium high heat. Once it has started to melt, add almonds and enough salt to start to brown the butter*. Cook over heat until butter is melted and has browned, stirring consistently to mix in almonds. Pour over beans and serve immediately or at room temperature.
*to brown butter, heat over a medium-high heat until melted. Add salt liberally and swirl the pan around so it mixes with the butter. Butter should begin to brown. Continue to cook until it’s the color in between light and dark brown sugar.
