Clothing Swap
Those of us who grew up with similar-sized siblings or whose college roommates’ closets were simply extensions of our own can easily understand the inspiration behind Vamp Shara’s “clothing swap” idea. Here are the basic ideas behind it:
What: A clothing swap is an opportunity for friends to get together and swap some of their clothes for their friends’ clothes.
The Ground Rules: Each person brings the same number of articles of clothing (around 10). Clothing must be in good condition. Articles should be pieces that are one step down from consignment shops (ie, Banana Republic, Theory, etc.). As Vamp Shara writes, “we are stuck donating these fine pieces instead of unloading them on friends who are lucky to benefit from them!” Everyone should agree to play nicely and take turns going through what everyone else brought. If there are clothes left at the end, the host can donate them to a local Goodwill or thrift shop.
Who: ask four or five friends and have them each ask a friend. People of all sizes are welcome — that’s what tailors are for!
Remember, this is a social event, so the host should provide some appetizers and beverages, or make it a potluck and ask everyone to pitch in!
