Easy ways to spruce up your bathroom without spending a lot of money:
Make room in your medicine cabinet by checking expiration dates. If a medicine has expired, it won’t necessarily hurt you, but it also won’t work well. Pitch anything that is past its shelf-life.
Display the pretty stuff. Keeping perfume bottles out on shelves is a no brainer, but why not also display bath salts, bubble bath, or cotton balls? Pretty containers are easy to buy and fun to show off, and they allow you to buy in bulk. Check out these from the container store.
Matching towels, or at least towels in complementary colors, really do make a difference. You can often find them on sale at Linens n’ Things or Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Remember to donate old towels to a local vet or animal shelter.
Two quick ways to instantly make your bathroom more cheerful: fresh flowers and a new shower curtain. I have a small metal vase (a favor from a wedding two years ago) that I love filling with roses or daffodils for our bathroom. Our shower curtain matches our floor and shower tiles, and we found it at Target.
If you find mildew is building up on your shower curtain quickly, be sure you’re always airing it out properly. After you shower, you should always pull the curtain all the way out again, preventing water from being trapped in the folds of your shower curtain. Still have a mold problem? Don’t forget a mold and mildew spray may be easier than washing your liner in the washing machine.
